GoogleChrome has reportedly released an updated version that supports Apple's new lineup of Macs with its own homemade silicon. According to 9to5Google, the Apple silicon version of Chrome for Mac is available now.

A native version of Google Chrome is now officially available for Apple Silicon M1 Macs. The update was previously released but pulled back due to crashes reported by users. The ARM version of the. Google earlier this week released a version of Chrome designed specifically for Apple's M1 Macs, and those with a new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or Mac mini will want to download the Apple Silicon.

You can get it from the Chrome site by clicking 'download' and then selecting 'Mac with Apple chip.'

Developers on Twitter also spotted preliminary support for Apple's silicon in Firefox 84 beta, which Mozilla confirmed in an emailed statement. 'We offered Firefox users on Apple's M1 Macs our first native build with Firefox 84 Beta this week,' a Mozilla spokesperson told CNET. 'Native support is coming for Release. Before that happens, there are a number of changes that need to take place, and each of those changes must be tested thoroughly.'

Apple has begun sales of its new $999 MacBook Air and $1,199 MacBook Pro laptops, as well as its revamped $699 Mac Mini no-frills desktop, which all run the new M1 chip that serves as the brains of its computers.

Last week, Apple finally unveiled its new ARM-powered Macs, and now they're hitting the market. That also means that it's time for app developers to start optimizing their apps for it. In fact, it's not such a simple task. Apps need to be recompiled for the new architecture, lest they deal with the performance impact of running in Apple's Rosetta 2 emulation.

Google released its ARM64 Chrome browser today, and when downloading the browser, you'll be presented with an option to download the Intel or the Apple Silicon version. Since then, Microsoft has also confirmed that its Chromium-based Edge browser is on the way to supporting the Apple M1.

M1 support is in the works, stay tuned 😊

Of course, this is sort of something that app developers have to do. Unlike Microsoft's ARM64 efforts, which feel like more of a side-project, Apple is transitioning its entire lineup to its own custom ARM processors. It's leaving behind Intel completely.

A great example of this is that Google still hasn't released an ARM64 version of Chrome for Windows. And as we exclusively reported over a year ago now, Google has had ARM64 Chrome ready to go on Windows, but it just hasn't released it.
